  Davenports Magic have been selling and teaching magic for over 119 years offer a range of magic courses for both adults and children, as well as our new parent/child course. We also sell a wide range of magic tricks, books, accessories and DVDs. Based in purpose-built, underground premises in London’s Charing Cross, we are close to Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and Covent Garden. Our Magic School teaches magic in an easy to understand and fun way. We keep all our courses and workshops interactive, with plenty of time to ask questions. The tricks that we teach have all been carefully selected to use normal household objects such as pens, rubber bands, cards, paper etc, so are very practical. Parent / Child Magic Course

Magic Classes
This fun and informative 90-minute magic workshop is designed to allow parents/guardians and children learn a new skill together. This is especially suitable for the slightly younger children, in the age range of 6 to 11. We find that children often initially focus on the methods of magic tricks. Having the parents/guardians and children learn together, we find that the parents can help the children master, practice and present the magic at home, and not forget some of the presentation suggestions that will be made. This workshop will not require any previous experience of magic. Magic History
It was way back in 1898 that a young Lewis Davenport started the business that is now being carried on by his great-grandson, Bill Davenport. Lewis was a music-hall performer, presenting a magic act that incorporated sleight-of-hand with cards and billiard balls. He was also an illusionist, and a comedy magician - so covered all the bases! Lewis was born in the EastEnd of London in 1881, the son of a cooper (barrel maker). He decided that the family coopering business was not for him, so he decided to follow his passion for magic.
